Aftercare

- Brush your hair extensions before shampooing your hair to ensure its tangle free

- Secure the hair with one hand while detangling to avoid any pressure or tension on the copper locks

- It is important to shampoo your hair with recommended silicone, sulphate and paraben free shampoo and apply conditioner only on the end of you hair and rinse thoroughly on the day of your extension application to ensure a strong and healthy connection

- When shampooing your hair work vertically not horizontally or in a circular motion this will create less tangles and make the hair easier to manage

- For best results leave conditioner in for 3-5 minutes before rinsing and comb through your hair extensions. We recommend removing 80-90% of the wetness in your hair before applying conditioner

- Only condition the hair from the ponytail down avoiding contact with the root area or locks however you may apply conditioner generously throughout the ends

- Always use leave in conditioner on the ends to keep the ends looking silky

- We recommend you brush your scalp at least twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening to keep you hair extensions clean at the root area with a recommended hairbrush

- Only use recommended brushes on your Kismet extensions. When wet use a detangling brush on your extensions and when styling use a natural bristled brush

- Use weekly conditioning treatments as recommended by your stylist

- Only use your recommended shampoo on your Kismet extensions as this will maximise your result and sustain the high quality of the hair. Not following this advice will reduce the lifespan of the extensions

- Gather the hair into a loose side ponytail or braid while you sleep

- Avoid any tight up do’s or ponytails for the first few days after the hair extension application

- We don’t recommend but if you do go swimming always tie your hair in a ponytail and apply conditioner to the hair or wear a swim cap if you swim more regularly to act as a barrier against harmful chlorine/saltwater etc

- When traveling to hot countries take care not to have your hair in direct sun light for long periods of time, just like with hair colour on the natural hair the sunlight can change the colour/tone of your hair extensions

- Don’t allow excess oils to build up on the scalp area this can course the tips to breakdown and to slip

- Do not allow more than 10/12 weeks between refitting’s. If you allow longer than this you will unbalance the weight ratio and could course unnecessary damage to the natural hair

- Remember it is normal to loose up to 12 strand of hair over the 12 week period due to natural hair shedding.

- Cuticle Protection :The cuticle is a part of the hair that allows moisture in and out, if this becomes damaged due to heat or colour it will not close and then cause breakage. Once this is damaged that hair will feel rough to touch and may become matted and knotty. Protecting the cuticle of hair is very important and can be done with a few simple steps. These steps should be taken with natural hair and hair extensions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Product

Q, Why use Russian hair ?

A, Russian hair has a similar texture to western hair, this means that the hair doesn’t have to go through the many chemical processes that is needed when we are trying to smooth and soften hair sourced from other parts of the world such as china where the hair is much thicker and more course.

Q,  Why does Russian hair last longer than hair sourced from other parts of the world?

A, Due to the minimal amount of processes the Russian hair has to go through to become a wearable hair extension, the hair arrives to the salon in a much more natural state. Russian hair will come in lighter colours due to the genetics. Russian hair will come in soft blond tones and light browns unlike hair from India or china which has to be stripped many times and even have the cuticle removed to then try to achieve a smooth soft finish.

A, The cuticle is a part of the hair that allows moisture in and out, if this becomes damaged due to heat or colour it will not close and then cause breakage. Once this is damaged that hair will feel rough to touch and may become matted and knotty. Protecting the cuticle of hair is very important and can be done with a few simple steps. Q, What does cuticle correct  mean and why is this important?.

A, Cuticle correct hair is a very important when wearing hair extensions. If the hair isn’t cuticle correct this can mean many things:

  1. The hair can be collected and then attached upside down meaning the the cuticles will be facing the wrong way and create a rough texture. This can also create a velcro effect when laying next to a hair that is facing the correct way and the hair becomes matted.

  2. The cuticle may have been totally removed using a strong chemical process. This is a short term solution to the above issue but will actually weaken the hair and gibe it a strange synthetic feel. Hair that hair been treated this way wont last as it is weak.

  3. The cuticle may be covered in synthetic product which will eventually wear off revealing the damaged cuticle underneath.

Q, What is double drawn hair?

A, When hair is collected and made into hair extensions we usually work on a weight basis. One strand of hair may weigh the same as another strand of hair but both will look totally different.

Double drawn hair will always be the same thickness at the root as the tip.

In turn this means you wear less hair but it looks fuller.

To create drawn hair, when we are testing the length any hair that does not reach the correct length is removed and replaced with another hair that does reach the tip.

Q, How long does Kismet hair last?

A, Kismet hair will last up to 12 months if taken care of correctly, you must follow all of the aftercare in the aftercare section for the hair to be at its best for as long as possible.

The aftercare helps to keep not just the hair in good condition it also is to maintain the integrity of the tips of each strand.

Q, Will extensions damage my natural hair?

A, Hair extensions will not damage the natural hair as long as the quality is of a high standard and the correct fitting method is used. You must also follow all correct aftercare and refit instructions.

Q, How often will I have to have my hair extensions refitted?

A, I-Tips should be refitted every 10/12 weeks depending on the wearers hair growth pattern.

Weaves and tape should be refitted every 6/8 weeks also depending on the hair growth pattern.

Q, Why do we use copper locks with Itips?

A, Copper locks are a lighter alternative to other locks. Copper is a soft metal so it is gentle on the natural hair as well as having anti bacterial benefits.

Q, What is the difference between human hair and Remy hair?

A, Human hair is 100% human and can last up to 3 months depending on aftercare. Human hair has the cuticles removed which means the life time of the hair extensions are shorter compared to Remy hair extensions. Human Hair extensions are ideal for clients who want hair extensions for a short period of time.
Remy Human Hair is 100% Human Hair. Remy hair is specifically processed to ensure that the protective layer of the cuticles remain intact and are facing in the same direction from root to tip. Ensuring natural shine and vitality allowing the hair to behave tangle-free throughout its lifetime. Remi Human hair can last around 12 months depending on aftercare. Please note: Styling and Heating all of our products can damage the condition of the hair and reduces its life-span.
